FAQ | HOLLOWAY

  • Students can join Band beginning in 6th Grade. No previous experience in music required!

  • Unfortunately, no. Our students are taught the fundamentals of reading and performing music in 6th grade. By 7th Grade, students are busy taking part in contests and performances. There is simply no time to teach those basics after 6th Grade.

  • For 6th Graders, the school provides French Horns, Baritones, and Tubas. All other instruments must be purchased/rented by the student. At the Junior High/High School, there are a few specialty instruments that are also provided by the school (i.e. Oboe, Bassoon, Bass Clarinet, Tenor and Bari Sax, Trombones with F attachment, Euphoniums, Sousaphones, etc.) that will be checked out as appropriate.

Be sure to check out the llist of approved band instruments.

  • Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone/Euphonium, Tuba, and Percussion. Our Jazz Band also includes guitar, electric bass, and piano.
